Day 10 - Indiana Dunes National Park & Toledo - Thurs Aug 12 2021

I finally gave my drivers the day off. They were driving me nuts. These non-vegetable life forms seem to be particularly prone to suffering and telling we vegetables all about it. I was somewhat tired with their whining about the heat and the mosquitos. It was a blessed relief to have them set off on their bicycles for much of the day.

They enjoyed the ride apparently, although it was very flat (20 miles, 347 ft!). They did see a wonderful Praying Mantis, which they’d only ever seen in the Zoo before:

Of course they couldn't go far afield without checking out the local art exhibit, where they were so excited to find a three legged table. Good thing the van isn't too big, else I expect they'd waste their hard-earned cash on this extravagance, just for the joke of it:

One amazing thing did happen today - Toby and I went shopping in a really strange old school house, where he bought a shirt. Toby volunteering to go shopping is just about a first, so we had to record it:

After such a quiet day I was fully rested, so had them drive me to Toledo. Unfortunately we didn’t arrive in time to go to the bar so, once again, it was a quick snack dinner before they spent the night whining about the heat and feeding the mosquitos. Sheesh - get over it already!
